This week in academics:
English - We will be watching To Kill A Mockingbird and writing our final essay.
Biology - How does your body break down what you eat? We are starting the study of digestion!
Earth Science - Once we finish our Volcano Resume's, we will start our study of Earthquakes.

Can you believe it's already the middle of third quarter? After acting out the court scene last week, we will continue to read To Kill A Mockingbird. Keep looking for themes as we read! In Biology, we are finishing up genetics and will be starting nutrition. Earth Science will be creating a powerpoint this week to complete our study of volcanoes.

February 13-17

In English we will continue to read To Kill A Mockingbird and complete the themes, story map, comprehension questions, and facebook postings. As a whole, the class did poorly on the first genetics quiz. This week we will review the quiz and start learning about incomplete dominance and sex linked traits. Earth Science class is beginning the study of Earthquakes.

In English, after presenting our collages on Monday, we will continue to read To Kill a Mockingbird. Biology will continue to study genetics using Punnett Squares to predict genotype and phenotype ratios. Earth Science will continue studying plate tectonics. Don't forget to do your homework!!

Welcome to second semester!! It's a fresh start for all!! In English, after completing our individual "State of the Union" paragraphs, we will be creating our collages, then jumping back into To Kill a Mockingbird. In Biology, we are going to continue the study of heredity including creating Alien Babies and completing Punnett Squares. Earth Science will be spending the next couple weeks studying plate tectonics, including a fun hands on lab and an excellent video. Don't forget to fill out your assignment notebooks daily!!

This week we will be starting to review for final exams in all classes. If you study the information in the review packets you will do great on the exam. Plan on homework in every subject on Friday to help you prepare for finals!

Thursday is Camp Sunrise. Dress in layers and prepare to have a lot of winter fun....here's hoping for snow!!!

Hope you enjoyed your long weekend! This week in English we are diving into To Kill A Mockingbird. Identify the theme of family as we read. In Biology we will identify the parts and funtions of the microscope and use the microscopes to view animal/plant cells. In Earth Science, we are continuing our work in
Chapter 4, topics include the composition of the earth, rotation, revolution, and the equinoxes. Test will be early next week.

This week will be busy preparing for our Thanksgiving dinner. Dress nice on Wednesday and bring your best manners with you to school with you!! In English, we will be introductory activities for the novel, To Kill A Mockingbird. You will have homework over the long weekend. Be prepared to read!! In Biology, we will be using the microscopes. Earth Science will continue on Chapter 4, the composition and structure of the earth. Have a great Thanksgiving!!

No School on Monday, Teacher's Institute. Tuesday is an early dismissal day, no 7th period. In English this week, we will be finishing our short stories and story maps. Biology will be continuing studying cells and prepare to use the microscopes. Earth Science will be starting Chapter 4, the Earth's Structure and Motion. Also this week, we will start preparing for our Thanksgiving celebration, so get your creative ideas flowing!

No School on Friday, November 11th. Enjoy your day off and thank all the veterans you know for their service! In English, continue to write your short story. In Biology, we are learning about cells and using the microscope. Earth Science Chapter 5 test on Wednesday.

In English this week, continue to brainstorm ideas for your short stories. The more descriptive the better! Ecology Powerpoints are due on Friday. Be prepared to present after all the work you have done. In Earth Science, we are studying atoms and minerals. It's a short unit, so be prepared for a test next Wednesday.

Great job at Sunrise Lake on Monday. In English this week, we completed pre-writing activities for the short story Marigolds and started reading the story. In Biology, the creation of ecology powerpoints are underway. This project will take about a week and is used as a final assessment for the chapter instead of a test. So, have fun creating!! Earth Science is wrapping up studying alternatives to fossil fuels and the effect of oil spills on the environment.
